Nordic Children's Aid
To love your neighbour as yourself — regardless of location, nationality or faith.
Nordic Children's Aid is built on the Christian principle of loving your neighbour as yourself, and regards anyone whose needs we are able to meet as our neighbour — regardless of location, nationality or faith.
Our purpose
The purpose of the organisation is to establish and run schools in developing countries so that children living in poverty can receive an education they would otherwise have no access to; to run homes for street children and orphans; to work against poverty by creating opportunities for vocational training that leads to employment; and to work against the oppression of and discrimination against girls.
How we got here
The work of Nordic Children's Aid has come through a 25-year process of development in which different organisations each contributed to the cause in their own period. For many years ABC Children's Aid focused on building schools and started a sponsorship programme in many countries, among them Pakistan and the Philippines.
From 2017 the Icelandic Children's Aid took over projects in Kenya, Pakistan and the Philippines in order to strengthen the sponsorship system with a focus on defined areas. In recent years the projects in all of these countries have grown to the point where it became necessary to found Nordic Children's Aid in order to narrow the focus further onto the work in Pakistan and the Philippines.
This new development allows us to have a larger and more targeted impact on people living in poverty in these countries. We are now ready to serve, with a committed and focused board and volunteers, hundreds of sponsored children in these countries — with the potential to reach many more who are in urgent need of help.
